Human rights lawyer and political commentator, Kenneth Okonkwo, has criticised the Nigerian Senate over its handling of issues surrounding the Electoral Act, describing the lawmakers’ actions as treachery and deceit.
Okonkwo made the statement on Channels TV (Politics Today) on Tuesday.
The Nollywood veteran expressed disappointment with what he described as a deliberate attempt to undermine the will of the citizens through refusal to do the will of the people.
“What I saw today was treachery. It was deceit,” Okonkwo said.
Okonkwo’s comments come amid the controversy and protest surrounding the Electoral Act, with prominent Nigerians like Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi participating in the demonstration.
