KekeAds rallies people with disabilities for social change

To provide technical and vocational skills training for people with disabilities, enabling them to contribute to the advertising industry, KekeAds, a transit media advertising platform, has unveiled an initiative tagged: ‘KekeAds-4-Social Change’.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 15% of the world’s population has some form of disability, and in Nigeria, people with disabilities are often excluded from technical and vocational programmes, making it difficult for them to find employment.

KekeAds-4-Social Change is a programme designed to address this issue by recruiting and training people with disabilities to be part of the KekeAds production and field admin crews. These individuals will be provided with training based on their abilities and choices, and will be given the opportunity to work in the advertising industry.

“We believe that everyone has something to offer, and we want to provide people with disabilities with the opportunity to showcase their skills and contribute to the advertising industry,” Zainab Ibrahim, KekeAds’ Business Development Director, said.

The training programme for KekeAds-4-Social Change utilized professional advertising services providers and branders, who taught the basics and processes of branding a motor tricycle to the KekeAds practical course participants. Each student was able to have one-on-one sessions detailing the techniques of vehicle branding, and the overall reception and participation by the students were engaging, unique, and full of enthusiasm.

Upon completion of the project, each participant would be presented a certificate of completion as a KekeAds Master Brander, and will progress to further training to becoming a certified KekeAds Production Executive. Also, each participant will receive a Certificate of Participation and goody bag from the clients. The candidates who display the best skills during the project would be sent for further supplementary training at Rocana Institute of Technology, Enugu to enhance their skillsets in the area of printing technology.

The Emzor Pharmaceuticals campaign on KekeAds, which empowered over 4,000 motor tricycle operators and exposed in eight states to over 20 million eyeballs, made it possible for KekeAds to support a culture that accepts the skills of capable persons living with a disability. Shalina Healthcare, Awoof Cribs, and several other notable brands have also benefited from the promotions used on many Keke outdoor advertising campaigns.
