Chelsea legend, John Terry has hailed Argentine goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez’s arrival at the club, describing it as the signing of the summer.
The 2022 World Cup-winning shotstopper joined from Aston Villa to bolster Chelsea’s goalkeeping department.
He also took up the No. 26 shirt worn by Terry in his trophy-laden career at Stamford Bridge.
The club legend praised the arrival of the 33-year-old goalie, whom he described as “world class”.
He said, “Emi Martinez coming in the building, I think is the signing of the summer.

“What a world class goalkeeper he is.
“If I had any choice who I’d go and sign in the world, he would be right at the very top for me”.
Meanwhile, Martinez said he got Terry’s blessings before joining the club and took the No. 26 shirt to honour his legacy.
He said, “I remember using the 26 on loan a few times with previous clubs, and of course I knew John Terry famously had the 26 here.
“John was someone I spoke to before I joined, and he said he was over the moon to have me here. From our time together at Aston Villa, he knows how hard I work and what I can bring to Chelsea. The morning I signed, I texted him and said, ‘I’m wearing your shirt, and I’m going to do it with pride’.”
