Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital, was agog on Saturday as the District Head of Gwandagbaji ,Alhaji Umaru Ahmad conferred the traditional title of ‘ Fagacin Gwandagbaji ‘, on the Vice Chancellor of the Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero, (KSUSTA), Professor Bagudu DanShehu Gwandagbaji.
Professor Bagudu, his associates, friends and students of KSUSTA stormed the palace of the district to celebrate with their leader and mentor.
While speaking with newsmen after the ceremony, Bagudu explained that he had been working hard to promote the progress of the community for many years through his foundation. He said: “I have been asked to take this title about 20 years ago but I thought of it that this is right time to accept it. This is my community, and I have been contributing to her development. I have enough strategies on ground to continue to contribute my quota to community development.
“For your information, I have a foundation which is taking care of the needy, school children and the orphans. I have employed more than 100 people, assisted more than 20,000 students in my life.
“I have graduated more than 20 PhDs, more than 50 master’s degrees and I have served at several federal government agencies and parastals. All along I have been contributing to the service to the humanity”.
He commended the Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris for appointed him as the Vice -Chancellor of his university and promised to continue to be rendering service to humanity and the development of the state.
Earlier, the District Head of Gwandagbaji, Alhaji Umaru Ahmad, described the Vice -Chancellor as the most reliable son of the community who is known for his hard work and sincerity, always assisting the less privileged.
