Kebbi police neutralises Lakurawa bandit in Yeldu

The Kebbi State Police Command has neutralised one suspected Lakurawa in Kwagware village, Yeldu district, Arewa LGA of Kebbi State after his gang rustled an unspecified number of cows and collected the GSM handsets belonging to the inhabitants.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.

According to him, “On 5 November 2025 at about 1530hrs, a gang of suspected Lakurawa bandits armed with sophisticated weapons invaded Kwagware village, Yeldu district, Arewa LGA of Kebbi State, rustled an unspecified number of cows and collected the GSM handsets belonging to the inhabitants.

“Upon receiving the unfortunate incident, the Divisional Police Officer, Yeldu, aggressively mobilised a combined team of Policemen and local vigilantes, pursued the bandits and engaged them in a fierce gun duel. As a result, one suspected Lakurawa bandit was neutralised, while many fled into the forest with possible fatal gunshot wounds.

“Similarly, one unregistered Boxer motorcycle was set ablaze by the jubilating mob and one Tecno GSM handset was also recovered at the scene.

“In view of the above tremendous achievement, additional police tactical units, military personnel and local vigilantes have been deployed to the affected area to restore normalcy, apprehend and neutralise the fleeing members of the suspected terror group as well as prevent reprisal attacks.

“The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani has charged the combined team of additional security personnel to decisively continue to deal with the members of the terror group across the state and maintain the already existing synergy amongst them with a view to ensuring the total elimination of the criminal in the state.”
