Kebbi State Police command on Friday disclosed that it has arrested eight suspects in the state over alleged election offences.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Garba Danjuma who confirmed this during a press conference in Birnin-Kebbi ahead of Saturday election, insisted that his command would decisively dealt with whoever planning to disrupt elections.
Responding to questions, Danjuma said “in the last election, eight suspects were arrested. Three of them were arrested for card buying, three were arrested for thuggery in Koko area. They came to polling units to cause mayhem and they have been charged to court”.
Danjuma who assured people of the state maximum security during election, said, the police had deplored enough officers from different units to secure polling units and electorates during and after election.
“I want to assure the good and peace loving people of Kebbi State that the police under my leadership will not hesitate to deal decisively with any person or group of persons under any guise,who want to disrupt the peace being enjoyed in Kebbi State. “
He warned politicians, contestants, party supporters and all stakeholders from hate speech,thuggery, buying of voter’s cards and violence during the election.
