The Kebbi State Government says it has spent about N145 million to connect villages to the national grids and distribution of electricity across the state.
Commissioner for Water Resources and Rural Development, Arch. Bala Sani Kangiwa, who confirmed this, on Wednesday, during press briefing in Birnin-Kebbi, noted that it cost the state government N264.8 million to procure transformers and connected villages who had been on darkness for some years.
According to Kangiwa, the state government had spent N31 million on extension of electricity to Tairi area in Gwandu local government councils, while N56 million was expanded on electrification of Koko and Yauri villages.
He added that the state government also spent N10 million in repairing 33kv lane that supply power to Koko area stressing that ,the government is working hard with Kaduna Electricity Company to ensure more villages in the state enjoys electricity.
While speaking on water supply Kangiwa disclosed that state government ” sunk 29 motorist water, 12 solar power water scheme, 30 hand rig pipe water, rehabilitation of eight non- function water scheme. ”
The Commissioner said that state government had successfully completed 7.5 kilometres water networks to some villages at radius of 200 metres distance saying “we can proudly says that half a million if rural people enjoy water supply”.
He added that the present administration are working with International organizations to provide portable water for the people of the state.
