The Kebbi State Elders Consultative Forum (KECF) has appealed to the people of the state and Customers of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) to exercise patience and shun riot or vandalisation of the installations of the electricity company in the state.
Chairman of the Forum, General Muhammad Magoro, stated this while speaking with the newsmen after a closed door meeting with the Regional Manager of KEDCO, Makinu Sani, and other staff of the company in Birnin Kebbi.
Magoro, represented by the Deputy Chairman of the Forum, Justice Suleiman Muhammad Ambursa (retd), told newsmen that their engagement with the management staff of the company has yielded fruitful outcomes, stressing that they have promised to improve power supply to their numerous customers in the state.
He said “Another fruitful outcome of our engagement with the KEDCO is that from this moment, they have promised to improve the electricity supply to the customers in the state.
“We are still appealing to the people of Kebbi State to, please, exercise patience; we don’t want any riot. We are going to intervene to ensure that things are done in the right way. We are appealing to all our people to exercise patience, no riot, nothing please.
“The Regional Manager has assured us that, from today, there will be regular supply of electricity in Kebbi state. Don’t go on a riot, don’t vandalise anything. If you vandalise anything, then, we are going to be in total darkness forever. Please, exercise patience, we need your cooperation; things will be better by the grace of God”.
Magoro urged the numerous customers in the state to always pay their bills, collect their receipts at the point of payment, to avoid being deceived.
The Forum also appealed to the people of the state to always protect the transformers and other installations of the KEDCO within their areas, and urged the company to stop termination of their worker’s employment without cogent reasons.
While speaking with newsmen, the Regional Manager of KEDCO, Kebbi Regional Office, Makinu Sani, who assured their customers improved power supply from today, appealed to their customers to always pay up their current charges to avoid disruption.
“By God’s grace, from today, there will be improvement in the power supply. We are pleading for the regular payment of bills and payment of current charges to avoid disruptions”.
