The Coalition of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) has commended Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris for his significant initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of civil servants, particularly highlighting the recent implementation of a N75,000 minimum wage.
This recognition highlighted the governor’s commitment to enhancing the living standards of state employees.
The commendation was made during a press briefing held in Abuja on Tuesday, where Dr. Amb Lukman Mahmoud, the National Secretary of the CSOs, delivered remarks praising the governor’s leadership.
The briefing focused on several key achievements of the Idris administration, which include prompt payments of pension and gratuity, an approved retirement age for teachers set at 65 years, and the completion of an ultra-modern secretariat designed to provide a conducive work environment for civil servants.
Additionally, the governor’s provision of utility vehicles aims to enhance the operational efficiency of various ministries and boards, further contributing to improved governance in the state.
The CSOs also recognized the governor’s broader efforts in promoting peace and security, as well as infrastructure and economic development, which are vital for empowering both youth and women in Kebbi State.
The coalition urged civil servants to reciprocate the governor’s gestures by rededicating themselves to their duties and delivering quality services to the citizens.
They expressed gratitude for the governor’s unwavering dedication to the welfare of civil servants and called for continued support from the people of Kebbi State in building a better future for the region.
Mahmoud stated, “We gather today to commend and celebrate the exemplary leadership of His Excellency, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), Executive Governor of Kebbi State.
“We commend Governor Nasir Idris for fulfilling his promise by paying the minimum wage salary to civil servants.
“This gesture demonstrates his commitment to their welfare and his resolve to improve their standard of living.
“Specifically, we acknowledge his administration’s efforts in the payment of a N75,000 minimum wage, which represents a significant improvement in the lives of civil servants. Additionally, the prompt payment of pension and gratuity ensures that retirees receive their benefits in a timely manner. The approved retirement age for teachers has also been increased to 65 years, along with a service requirement of 40 years.
“Furthermore, the completion of an ultra-modern secretariat provides a conducive work environment for civil servants, while the provision of utility vehicles enhances the operational efficiency of ministries and boards. These initiatives collectively reflect the governor’s commitment to the welfare and productivity of state employees.
“We call on civil servants in Kebbi State to reciprocate the Governor’s kind gestures by rededicating themselves to their duties and working tirelessly to deliver quality services to the people.
“We would particularly like to recognise Governor Nasir Idris for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the welfare of civil servants in Kebbi State.
“His administration’s efforts to promote peace and security, infrastructure development, economic empowerment, youth empowerment, and women empowerment are commendable.
“We wish to express our sincere gratitude to Governor Nasir Idris for his exemplary leadership and commitment to the development of Kebbi State.
