Katsina to build 10 schools for Fulani community

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has said that his government was set to build 10 schools for the education of the Fulani children in the area.
“The plan is to ensure that the Fulani children of school age in the state go to school in the morning and go for Islamic education in the evening,” Masari  said on Wednesday evening at Kililin Runka town of  Safana  local government area during a meeting of senior government officials  with the National President of Miyetti Allah, Alhaji Mohammed Kiiruwa, and  other leaders of the Fulani from across the state.
Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Inuwa Mustapha, represented Masari at the meeting and the Miyetti Allah state Chairman, Alhaji  Atiku Lamido, was also present at the ceremony.
Orgsnisers of the meeting said it was designed as part of efforts of government and Fulani leaders at finding a lasting solution to the problem of cattle rustling in parts an of the state apart from a subsisting amnesty programme for cattle rustlers.
According to Masari,  “We are for peace and we believe no efforts should be spared to maintain peace in the state.
“I would, however, want you to reciprocate the government’s kind gesture by being law abiding, don’t go back to cattle rustling, don’t arbitrarily allocate land,  tell others who have not submitted their weapons to do so and we will on our own part abide by the amnesty terms.”
Masari said that a meeting of  governors of Katsina, Kaduna, Niger and Zamfara states would hold on July 21, equally designed to consolidate  on the progress made so far in Katsina  in ensuring peace among the Fulani and their neighbours.
Also speaking at the meeting,Kiiruwa said that, “I am here to preach peace and to laud the efforts of Katsina State in ensuring peace. Please be law abiding and ensure peaceful co-existence with your community.
“The Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Kabir Usman, has also  done a lot, as a father to all of us  to ensure peace among us and I will urge you to respect him and abide by the laws of the land.”
