From Agaju Madugba, Katsina

Frustrated by the apparent fruitlessness of the five days of the #EndBadGovernance protests, thousands of Katsina residents thronged various centres in the metropolis on Tuesday for fervent prayer sessions, seeking divine intervention in their affairs.

They identified unnamed politicians, traditional rulers, and security personnel as the architects of the lingering economic hardship, hunger, insecurity, and poor governance plaguing the nation.

At the Katsina Arabic Teachers’ College prayer ground, the participants prayed that God “eliminate” all persons who have anything to do with the lingering problems in the state and in the country at large.

They also offered the Muslim Al-Qunut prayer, a special prayer rendition recommended when calamity befalls a community or in times of severe turbulence in the land.

Similar exercises were conducted at the Filin Samji, Filin Yammawa and Filin Canada football grounds.

Some participants told reporters that, “we came here to worship God and prayed for Him to wipe away our tears.”
