The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has again raised concerns over the health of its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu, which it claimed is worsening.
Spokesperson of the group in a statement urged international communities to intervene and have Kanu freed unconditionally.
The statement read in parts: “Despite IPOB’s consistent commitment to peace and restraint, the Nigerian state, aided by some shameless Igbo collaborators and encouraged by the duplicity of the British government, has continued to gamble with the life of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
“Let it be clearly understood: Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is priceless, and no amount of blackmail, judicial rascality or induced health crisis will be tolerated.
“Nigeria is toying with a catastrophe that could engulf not only its borders but the entire region. History teaches bitter lessons. When Serbian nationalists assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo in 1914, they thought there would be no consequences. The result was the First World War, which consumed over 10 million lives.
“Today, by recklessly abducting Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from Kenya in violation of international law, and by continuing his illegal detention, Nigeria has plunged the East into turmoil. If anything untoward happens to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the consequences will be unimaginable, and Nigeria as presently constituted will cease to exist. IPOB has nothing to lose, but everything to defend.

“We are aware that the Nigerian government takes false comfort from assurances provided by the British government that nothing will happen if Kanu remains detained.
“This dangerous calculation is a mistake. The British government may protect its neo-colonial interests but it cannot save Nigeria from the consequences of pushing Biafrans to the wall.
“Those Igbo traitors and political jobbers outside Igboland, spewing trash and dancing on the graves of their people, should understand that time will vindicate the just. IPOB does not act on empty threats; we act on justice, truth, and the will of our people.
“We are warning Tinubu’s regime, the DSS, and their international collaborators: Mazi Nnamdi Kanu must be released unconditionally and without further delay. His health and safety are non-negotiable. A worsening of his medical condition will ignite a crisis the likes of which Nigeria and its foreign backers have never imagined.
“We call on all peace-loving people across the world, international bodies, and human rights organizations to prevail upon the Nigerian government to do the right thing before it is too late.
“The games being played with the life of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu are reckless, provocative, and unsustainable. Nigeria is sitting on a keg of gunpowder, and IPOB will not be held responsible for what happens if this provocation continues.”
