Kano State Government is threatening to probe Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso by setting up a Commission of Inquiry to look into financial activities of the immediate past administration.
The state government’s latest stance was against the backdrop of allegations and threats by Kwankwaso’s loyalists.
A statement signed by Commissioner for Information, Mallam Muhammad Garba, yesterday, said allegations against Governor Abdullah Ganduje, by Kwankwaso’s loyalists, at the weekend, were false and untrue and accused them of deliberately distorting facts to the public.
In a statement released by loyalists of the previous administration, led by the immediate past Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Rabiu Sulieman Bichi, they called on the governor, among others, to ditch the red cap of the Kwankwasiya Movement.
But, Garba said the deliberate distortion of facts by Kwankwaso’s loyalists would provoke government to drop its non-confrontational stance and institute an inquiry into activities of the previous administration in the areas of illegal land deals, education and infrastructure.
He said the threat of legal action against Ganduje, if he failed to stop wearing red cap within 48 hours was most laughable, and added, “they should have known that the red cap was introduced by late Mallam Aminu Kano which was popularised by his followers and disciples, among whom are Ganduje.
“Governor Ganduje secured the mandate of the people of Kano by the will of Allah and only Allah has the right to take it back. Power belongs to Allah and He gives it to whoever He so wishes at any time” the statement said.
