Kano State Police Command on Saturday announced the interception of tramadol tablets and pregabalin capsules valued at N82,725,000.

A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the outlawed drugs included 603 packets of suspected tramadol tablets valued at N60,300,000 and 299 packets of suspected pregabalin capsules, consisting of 44,850 pieces, valued at N22,425,000.

He said that the arrest and interception was sequel to the receipt of credible information that there was a vehicle at Rimin Auzinawa Quarters of the state, suspected to be carrying suspected cartons of intoxicants.

“Acting promptly, a team of policemen trailed the vehicle to the said quarters. Upon arrival, the team cordoned off the house, where the vehicle was parked and successfully arrested one Usman Umar (m), 19 years old, a resident of the house.”

“A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of the intoxicants,” he added.

“This successful operation highlights the Command’s commitment to eradicating the menace of drug abuse and trafficking in Kano State. The suspect is currently helping investigators to uncover the network behind this illegal trade and bring all culprits to justice,” the statement held.

While restating the Command’s dedication to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents of the state, the Commissioner of Police commended the vigilance and cooperation of residents, whose timely information was instrumental in the interception.
