Another matrimonial tragedy has exploded in the ancient city of Kano following the murder of a 30 year old man ,Salisu Idris, by his newly wedded bride.
The tragedy, which occurred barely nine days after wedlock saw the new bride, one Saudat stab her husband with a sharp knife in the middle of the night in their home at Farawa quarters in the state capital.
Daily Sun gathered that the wedlock, which took place on Sunday, April 27, 2025 was largely as result of an uncommon family pressure, a situation which did not recognise the feelings of the bride towards the groom as at the time of the contract.
Following the tragedy, angry youths of Fararawa town, who could not bear what had happened, had attempted to mob the 18 year old suspect, but were prevented by security operatives.
A statement signed on Wednesday by the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police in the state, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the tragic saga.
The statement disclosed that, “Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, swiftly deployed a team of detectives to the scene.
“The victim was rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel while the suspect has been apprehended and is currently in custody at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The statement added that the suspect would be charged to court for an offence of culpable homicide in the coming days.
