Kano State government has denied allegation that it was behind the release of one Murja Ibrahim Kunya, a renowned Tik Toker, who was remanded by a Sharia Court in a correctional facility in the state.
A statement signed by the Commissioner for Information in the state, Baba Halilu Dantiye, Monday said the insinuation was totally unfounded, untrue, mischievous and without substance.
Dantiye insusted that it was the handiwork of disgruntled elements who were bent on tarnishing the image of the administration and the personality of the Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.
“The government is quite aware that the issue is purely legal and within the purview of the judiciary and will never interfere in any way to influence its fair and just outcome.”said Dantiye.
Telling what it knows about the case, Dantiye expñained that “The said Murja Kunya was arraigned before an Upper Shari’ah Court at Kwanar Hudu in Nassarawa Local Government area on allegation of sharing vulgar video content on social media platform following which the court ordered her remand in a correctional center and adjourned to Tuesday, 20th February, 2023 after hearing application for her bail”
.”There was a fresh allegation against her which necessitated her being taken out for investigation by the security agencies” said the Commissioner
“Her case is still subsisting and will continue up to its final determination by the court” he se general public is hereby urged to disregard the mischievous allegation against the state government ” he said.
It could be recalled that the social media outlets had accused the administration of ordering her release. End.
