The Kano State government has condemned the restrictions of movement by security operatives at the palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi
A statement issued by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Baba Halilu Dantiye, on Friday, condemned the action in strong terms.
The statement partly reads: “This unfortunate development has raised tensions and caused distress among the residents of Kano and the surrounding communities. We strongly condemn any action that disrupts the peace or undermines the dignity of traditional institutions, which are central to the unity and cultural heritage of our people.” He assured the public of the government’s commitment to maintaining peace, stability, and the rule of law across the state.
“The state government is investigating the reasons behind the incident and is engaging with the relevant authorities to ensure a swift and peaceful resolution,” he noted.
He appealed to Kano residents to remain calm and law-abiding, and continue their normal activities while refraining from spreading unverified information that could escalate panic and tension.
