Kano State government has accused the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state of posting pictures of violence witnessed in some part of the country on social media platforms with a view to discrediting the peaceful conduct of the supplementary election.
While debunking most of the posts on the social media a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Youth and Culture, Malam Muhammad Garba adjudged the supplementary election in the state as the most peaceful, adding that it was witnessed by a large turnout of voters.
The statement accused the Kwankwassiya members of the People’s Democratic Party of unleashing terror on innocent citizens of the state in order to scare them away from exercising their franchise.
“Since yesterday, members of the group have been posting and sharing gory pictures of violence in an effort to paint black, the peaceful and orderly election in Kano. Some of those pictures were shots from the Jos crisis in Plateau State,” the statement added
The commissioner, therefore, called on the public to ignore such posts which are awash on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
The statement also urged the people and particularly, members of the APC to remain calm and await for the outcome of the election.
