From Okey Sampson, Umuahia
Senator, representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has condemned police invasion of an online Radio/TV studio in the state capital, Umuahia.
This is even as the former governor has mourned the death of two traditional rulers in Abia North, E.U.L Imaga, the Udumaeze of Ohafia and chairman, Ohafia Council of Nde Ezie Ogo and Eze Linus Okafor of Uturu, in Isuikwuato Local Government Area.
Kalu, together with former minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Uche Ogah, and the member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency of Abia State, in the House of Representatives, Ibe Osonwa, condemning the invasion, said the policemen went over board.
They said the action of the cops that stormed the studio during a live programme and arrested a guest, was invasion of privacy and violation of rights.
Meanwhile, Kalu condoled with the people of Ohafia Udumaeze, on the passing of Imaga.
Kalu, in a message signed by his media aide, Sunny Idika, said the death of the traditional ruler was a painful loss, describing him as a peace-loving and cerebral leader.
“The Udumaeze was in a class of his own. He was highly respected and admired for his deep insights, wisdom, and sophistication. He had a masterful way of handling issues. He was very knowledgeable and wise.
“May Almighty God grant his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” Kalu said.
He urged the people of Ohafia to take solace in the legacy of peace and fellowship left behind by the late traditional ruler.
In a related development, Kalu commiserated with the family of Eze Linus Okafor, the Ata 1 of Uturu, over his death.
Kalu equally condoled with the people of Okamba and Uturu in general over the death of the traditional ruler of Umuratta Autonomous community in Uturu.
He said the late traditional ruler served his people with humility and wisdom.
“On behalf of the people of Abia North senatorial fistrict, I wish to express my condolences to the people of Okamba and Uturu in general over the death of their traditional ruler, Okafor.
“Okafor was a humble man who served his people with love and wisdom.”
Chairman of Senate Committee on Privatisation, prayed God to grant the immediate family and the good people of Okamba the fortitude to bear the loss.
