KACCIMA, NGKTPDC sign trade partnership agreement

On November 25, a landmark trade partnership was signed between the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and  Agriculture (KACCIMA) and the Northern Ghana-Kano Trade and Partnership Development Centre in Kano, Nigeria.

The event, which formed part of the 46th KACCIMA International Trade Fair, was witnessed by the Vice President of the House of Chiefs  of Ghana, His Royal Highness Buipe Wura Abdulai Jinapor II.  The delegation which comprises 12 members, including the Vice President of the Burkina Faso House of Chiefs, Bifate II and other paramount chiefs from Ghana.

In his opening remarks, the President of KACCIMA Eng. welcomed the delegation from Ghana and expressed the readiness of  KACCIMA to work closely with the northern Ghana-Kano Trade and Partnership Development Center to not only achieve the desired objectives of promoting intra trade among citizens of Africa but enhance and promote economic activities that would create sustainable jobs for the youth of Africa. He used the opportunity to call on Nigeria entrepreneurs to take advantage of this special trade vehicle between Ghana and Kano (Nigeria)

The Buipe Wura, who was the special guest of honor, praised the KACCIMA for the leading and promoting trade activities in Kano. He also used the event to express the gratitude on behalf of the President of Ghana and people of the Northern Ghana to the Kano people and expressed optimism about the trade partnership. He appealed to both the government of Ghana and Nigeria to support this initiative so that at the end of the day businesses will grow beyond the shores of these two countries.

The Buipe Wura also reminded chiefs to take up the mantle of promoting economic ties to support the efforts of governments in job creation.

The Vice President of the Burkina Faso Bifate II used the opportunity to invite entrepreneurs to invest in Burkina Faso, especially in the area of mines. He assured them that security situation in the country has significantly improved and that their investments are secured.

Mrs. Mensah Doris, the representative of the high commissioner of Ghana to Nigeria pledged the high commission’s readiness to coordinate with the government agencies in both countries in order for the successful implementation of this new trade program. She explained that Ghana and Nigeria has a strong trade relationship in the sub- region and this new trade partnership will help strengthen the relationship for the benefit of the two of the two countries.

The President and CEO of the Northern Ghana-Kano Trade and Partnership Development Center, Mr Osman Mubarik Abu thanked the leadership of KACCIMA and the office of the Emir of Kano for facilitating this trade partnership program. He assured everyone that this partnership is expected to support businesses and entrepreneurs across the two countries to fully understand what it takes to engage in cross country trade.

He appealed to the citizens to take advantage of the programme to internationalize their businesses.  He hinted that the programme will officially be launched in Ghana next year to offer the general public the required information.
