For many pageant winners, the spotlight fades shortly after the crown. But for Johnson Omeiza Alabi, popularly known as Jodrey , winning the Mr Ideal Nigeria title in 2020 became less of a final destination and more of a launching pad into entrepreneurship, fitness advocacy, and public leadership.
In the years following his emergence as Mr Ideal Nigeria, Jodrey has steadily expanded his influence beyond the modeling industry, building a reputation in wellness entrepreneurship through Starke Fitness while also taking on leadership and humanitarian roles.
Speaking on the impact the competition had on his life and career, Jodrey admitted that the platform gave him the visibility and credibility he needed to grow.
“Mr Ideal Nigeria gave me the platform and exposure that created countless opportunities for me. It made people see my potential beyond just modeling,” he said.
Before winning the competition, Jodrey was largely known for fashion and business circles. However, the national recognition that came with the title elevated his profile significantly, introducing him to broader opportunities in business, media, and public engagement.
Since then, he has gradually repositioned himself from being seen solely as a fashion enthusiast into what many now describe as a wellness entrepreneur and philanthropic figure.
One of his most visible ventures has been Starke Fitness, a wellness and recreational brand that reportedly grew from a small lockdown-era WhatsApp fitness community into an expanding experiential fitness company operating in multiple Nigerian cities. (businessday.ng)
According to Jodrey, the transition into fitness entrepreneurship was intentional.
“I didn’t want to just be known for winning a pageant. I wanted to build something sustainable and impactful that could improve people’s lives.”
That mindset appears to have shaped much of his post-pageantry career. In addition to business, he has increasingly become associated with advocacy around healthy living, youth development, and community engagement.
Recent reports also suggest that his influence within the Mr Ideal Nigeria ecosystem has continued long after his reign. In 2024, he won the prize for business award from house of twitch. Sometime last year, he was appointed Patron of Mr Ideal Nigeria 2025, a role seen by many as recognition of his continued support for the platform and the younger generation of contestants. In 2026, he wasn’t just a former winner, he became a major partner by sponsoring the Mr Ideal Nigeria 2026 winner with a million Naira and made him an ambassador for Starke Fitness.
Industry observers say his trajectory reflects a growing trend among modern Nigerian public figures who are leveraging entertainment and pageantry platforms to build businesses and long-term personal brands.
Jodrey himself believes the entertainment industry is evolving beyond appearances alone.
“Today, people want more than fame. They want impact, leadership, and authenticity. That’s something I try to represent.”
His growing involvement in humanitarian and leadership circles further reinforces that transition. In 2025/2026 Rotary year, he became an elected President Nominee at the Rotary Club of Shomolu, in 2026/2027 Rotary year, he becomes the President-Elect and is currently undergoing training from past and present Presidents. Hence, by 2027/2028 Rotary year, he will become the next President of the Rotary Club of Shomolu, a development many members described as recognition of his commitment to humanitarian and community-focused initiatives, adding another layer to his increasingly diverse public profile.
While the modeling industry introduced him to the public, Jodrey says his long-term vision extends far beyond fashion and entertainment.
“Winning Mr Ideal Nigeria gave me visibility, but what matters most is what you do with the opportunity afterward.”
Six years after his victory, Johnson Alabi ‘Jodrey’ appears focused on turning that opportunity into something more enduring a brand built around wellness, leadership, entrepreneurship, and community impact.
