The Jigawa State Government says it is targeting 1.6 million children for the March Immunisation Plus Days (IPDs) in the state.

Commissioner for Health, Dr Abba Zakari, disclosed this while speaking at the launching of Universal Health Coverage, in Jaudi village in Dutse Local Government Area of the state.

According to him, the state government intends to vaccinate 1,680,000 children starting from today through Tuesday.

“It should be kept in record that the state government has provided all the needed political and financial support in all the rounds of IPDs we have had in the last two years.

“I will like to use this opportunity to sincerely thank our traditional and religious leaders for their sustained support in the fight against polio and other health activities in the state,” he said.

The exercise would be conducted simultaneously across the 27 local government areas of the state.

The exercise, which began on March 23, would end on March 28. (NAN)
