Jigawa gov denies involvement in N46b fertiliser scam

Governor Muhammed Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State, on Monday, debunked reports from some section of the media alleging his involvement in a N46 billion fertiliser fraud.

The governor made the assertion while reacting to reports and condemned the reports and described it as an effort to frustrate the federal government, him as a person and his other colleagues on their commitment to make fertiliser available to farmers at affordable price.

He explained that,”the reports emanated from enemies of the common man and Nigerians whom have for decades been in the dirty and fraudulent business of fertiliser.”

The governor noted that the effort of the state government was to breakdown the catel whom are also deploying all efforts to fight back through means such as media blackmail and lies.

He stressed that, “the present administration under president Muhammadu Buhari has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Moroccan government to import millions of tones of fertiliser”.
