Iran has rejected claims that it discussed transferring its stockpile of enriched uranium to the United States, insisting the issue has never been part of ongoing engagements between the two countries.
Speaking during a weekly press briefing, Esmaeil Baqaei said at no point—either in recent negotiations or before—had Tehran considered sending its uranium abroad.
“Regarding the issue of transferring enriched uranium, neither during this period of negotiations nor before has transferring it to the United States been discussed,” he said. “It was never raised as an option for us.”

The clarification comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and the US, with talks failing to yield a breakthrough despite a fragile ceasefire currently in place.
Iran’s foreign ministry also accused Washington of not being serious about diplomacy, citing what it described as violations of the truce, including an alleged attack on an Iranian cargo ship and a naval blockade on its ports.
Although US President Donald Trump has indicated plans for another round of negotiations, Baqaei said Iran has yet to make any decision on participating.
