The final module of the 2024/2025 International Olympic Committee (IOC)/Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC) Advanced Sport Management Course (ASMC) is scheduled to hold from Tuesday, October 28, to Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State.

The three-day session will feature 21 senior sports administrators defending their theses, marking the conclusion of a rigorous year-long programme aimed at strengthening sports governance and management across Nigeria.

A flagship initiative of the IOC, the ASMC is delivered through Olympic Solidarity in partnership with the Nigerian Olympic Committee. The course equips participants with contemporary management skills and strategic tools needed to drive sustainable development within their respective sports organisations.

Now in its 7th edition, the programme commenced with 25 participants drawn from diverse sectors, including State Sports Councils, tertiary institutions, and paramilitary organisations. Over the past 12 months, participants have engaged in a blend of virtual and in-person sessions guided by the IOC’s Managing Olympic Sport Organisations manual.

The final module will be facilitated by IOC-certified Course Directors, Prof. Clement Fasan and Dr. Jonathan Dyagas, alongside invited international and local experts.

NOC President, Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel, is expected to declare the session open, reaffirming the Committee’s continued investment in professional sports administration and excellence.

In a statement, NOC Public Relations Officer, Tony Nezianya, reiterated the Committee’s commitment to developing a cadre of skilled, world-class administrators capable of upholding international standards in sports management and governance.

“The NOC remains steadfast in its mission to build competent leaders who will strengthen Nigeria’s sports system and uphold the values of Olympism,” Nezianya stated.

The completion of this module will produce a new generation of certified sports managers ready to implement global best practices within Nigeria’s sporting institutions.

The Nigerian Olympic Committee, as the country’s apex Olympic body, oversees Nigeria’s participation in the Olympic and Commonwealth Games, and continues to promote the values of Olympism while fostering the growth of sports nationwide.
