Ikwo, a sleepy, large community in Ebonyi State, southeast Nigeria, was recently agog when leaders from various fields of endeavour congregated at Ameka, Ekpelu village, the country home of Arch. Christian Asaga Nwali, on the official launching of the C-Sagas Charity Foundation.

As has become customary with the young philanthropist, the occasion, attended by several dignitaries from all over Nigeria and beyond, had in attendance as a special guest of honour the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, and numerous other dignified personalities, kicked off with the official inauguration of some completed social responsibility projects in the area, including modern market buildings with safe and hygienic trading spaces, an ultra-modern church building built for the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and two residential buildings constructed for his staff, all completed and furnished for use by the C-Sagas Group.

The history of the foundation dates back to April 26, 2025, when Chief Christian Asaga Nwali, PhD, alongside his wife, Dr. Mrs. Irene Ugochi Asaga Nwali, officially established the C-Sagas Charity Foundation with a clear and noble mandate: to uplift humanity and foster sustainable community development. Chief  Nwali, an illustrious son of Ameka, Ekpelu community in Ikwo LGA of Ebonyi State is widely celebrated for his visionary leadership and deep commitment to humanitarian service.

From a very humble background, the young philanthropist who holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, and a Master of Science and Doctorate degrees in Architecture from the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has successfully grown into a distinguished architect in his chosen field, become an accomplished entrepreneur, a seasoned philanthropist, and an expert in hospitality, tourism and the construction industry. Today, he symbolizes excellence across diverse spheres.

Just in his early forties, Chief Asaga Nwali, popularly known as C-Sagas has demonstrated exceptional leadership ability through building a conglomerate with over 2,000 employees. He has also trained and mentored numerous young professionals in the hospitality and construction industries.

Nwali has also contributed to urban planning and infrastructural development in many states across Nigeria through his construction company, C-Sagas Projects Limited. He has enhanced vacation experience for tourists by building magnificent and eco-friendly hotels across Nigeria.

It is worthy to note that Chief Asaga’s generosity has impacted the lives of people through donation of transformers and gadgets for rural electrification to various communities, building and donating a townhall to Ameka Ikwo women and also the construction of a 2-storey building for Redeemed Christian Church of God and communities.

He has donated over 50 cars to staff and NGOs, including building and donating befitting homes for senior staff. He has enrolled many youth into skill acquisition centres and empowered them to be self-reliable thereafter.

Apart from building and donating an edifice to Deeper Life Bible Church, he has built market structures for some communities and also established a scholarship scheme for secondary and tertiary institution students.

Nwali is particularly popular for having the interest of his staff, family and those around him at heart, whether in Enugu, Abakaliki or Abuja, apart from also lifting numerous people from poverty by establishing businesses for them or building houses for them.

Following his philanthropic activities and humanitarian interventions, Nwali has in his employment over 2,000 Nigerians in his establishments, taking in his stride scholarship programs, youth empowerment, support to his employees, among others.

It is an annual culture for the hotelier to distribute cars to his staff and those around him. In 2019, he bought and distributed eight cars to members of his staff.

Again, in December, 2023,  Nwali also distributed exotic cars to his staff in Ebonyi State, in appreciation of their contributions to the successes of the C-Sagas Group. In March, this year, the C-Sagas Group built and donated a church building to Deeper Life Bible Church (DLBC), Ameka, Ikwo, Ebonyi State.

December 2024, he built and donated two units of 6-bedrooms duplexes and a 4-bedroom bungalow to three different families in Ikwo LGA of Ebonyi State, including his manager, Engr Imeze Obinna, his elder brother, Mr. Nwali Nnamdi Asaga and a community elder, Mr. Chukwuma Ngwuta.

Also, on November 19, 2024, Chief Christian Asaga built and gifted a newly constructed, state-of-the-art four-bedroom bungalow, with boy’s quarters, properly fenced with gate, to his project engineer from Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State, Engr. Donatus Azunku (aka MTN).

Many beneficiaries of his magnanimity are presently thanking the hotelier for lifting them from poverty in different ways.

Engr. David Umahi, while speaking during the ceremony eulogized Nwali for his strides in his chosen career, reflecting deeply on his humble background and how he has navigated his career journey so far. He recounted how Nwali was first introduced to him by his then Deputy Governor, Kelechi Igwe, a lawyer, and that what struck him the most was not ambition alone, but character.

“He (Nwali) wanted to be a local government area chairman. It was as if the world would end if that did not happen. But I looked at him and said, no. There is something else in you.”

Umahi vividly recollected how he gave him jobs, observed him closely and discovered what he described as a rare blend of honesty, technical skill, loyalty and commitment to friendship.

He spoke of shared experiences, including trips abroad, where ideas were studied, adapted and eventually transformed into landmark projects executed during his reign as governor in Ebonyi State.

“Who will know that we went to Dubai and we were going up and down like mad people, we were copying the Dubai mall, two of us and then we produced a microcosm of the macrocosm of Dubai mall in Ebonyi State.

“Who would know that the ecumenical centre, that two of us did it, the airport, the university. But the point remains that it was all about the anointing of God. None of us can take credit of any of them.”

He described the foundation’s founder as a worthy son of Ebonyi State and publicly commended him to the governor, urging that his growth in business and governance be encouraged.

“When you see a man who fears God, who builds for God, who gives to the poor, who is honest, respectful, grateful, and committed, that man is dangerous,” Umahi said.

He cautioned those fighting him from within Ikwo and on social media to tread carefully. “And so I want to warn those who are fighting him from the village, be very careful.

“This man carries the audacity of God’s mercy and grace. It is not by power. It is not by might. It is by the Spirit of God. What God says will be will be,” Umahi asserted.

Nwali, in addition to his outstanding academic records and achievements also has been conferred with a Ph.D (Honoris Causa) in Entrepreneurship and International Business Management by the American-European University, and a CFIAR Fellowship (Honoris Causa) from the Institute of Chartered Administrators of Nigeria. His professional affiliations include: membership in the Nigeria Institute of Architects and induction into the Ebonyi State Hall of Fame.
