Imo State Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Investment, Rex Anunobi, has charged philanthropists and other well-meaning organisations to carry out people-oriented projects.

Anunobi stated this during the commissioning of a 500KVA 33/0.415KV transformer and an ultra-modern solar-powered borehole, donated by Magnus Agara, for the people of Amurie Omanze in Isu Local Government Area.

He lauded Agara’s philanthropy, emphasizing that such “people-oriented” projects provide more than just amenities; they give the community a significant facelift and lay a foundation for economic and social revitalization.

Administrative Secretary of Magnus Agara, Abamaji Victor, in a statement yesterday, said the interventions directly addressed two of the most fundamental challenges in rural communities, unstable power supply and access to clean water setting a transformative tone for the celebrations.

He added that the gesture was part of the Magnus Agara Annual Carnival and Birthday Celebration.

Speaking on behalf of the royal fathers present, Eze Nnajiemere expressed satisfaction and gratitude, framing Agara’s contributions as the ultimate act of a devoted son.

By bringing such projects home, Nnajiemere described Agara as a true worthy son of Amurie Omanze community.

According to him, dignitaries in attendance included Cosmos Maduba, Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security; Chimezie Amadi, Commissioner for Digital Economy and e-Government; and legislative representatives, Ozioma Bennett Ebonine of Njaba State Constituency and Kingsley Emeka Ozurumba of Isu State Constituency. Also present was Chief Kemdi Opara, a former governorship aspirant, among many other notable figures.

“As the carnival festivities continue, the enduring impact of these projects will far outlast the celebrations.

“The new transformer promises to unlock economic potential and improve daily living, while the solar borehole ensures a sustainable and cost-free supply of clean water, lifting a daily burden from countless households. Engr. Magnus Agara has, therefore, kick-started his annual celebration by giving gifts that keep on giving: the gift of energy, the gift of water, and ultimately, the gift of a brighter, more self-sufficient future for Amurie Omanze,” he added.
