Ijebu agog, as Knights, Ladies of St Mulumba hold investiture, thanksgiving

The Grand Knight of the Order of Knights of St Mulumba, Nigeria of Ijebu Ode Sub Council, Sir (Dr) Patrick Akinsanya (KSM) led the Lady President, Dr Bolanle Adefuye and other members of the sub council to the second degree investiture and thanksgiving ceremony held on Sunday, 23 February, 2024 at St Francis Catholic Church, Itele- Ijebu in Ogun State.

The Officiating Priest was Rev Father Erasmus Ogu, who stood in for the Order’s chaplain, Rev Father Emmanuel Matiluko. He reminded members of the story of Christ’s transfiguration on Mount Tabor where Peter, one of the disciples who was with him, was dazzled by the beauty of the event and advised with gush that three tents should be built, including one for Christ, one for Moses and one for Prophet Elijah, the duo having appeared to them on the mountain as part of the transfiguration.
He spoke on the lessons learnt from the transfiguration which included the beauty of being in Christ, the resurrection of the dead and truth of Christ always being with his people at all times, no matter the situation, just as he remained alone with his disciples after Moses and the Prophet Elijah had left. He emphasised on the significance of the mount in the life of Christ followers, as it is a place of retreat, regeneration, rejuvenation, solemnity and opportunity to commune with God away from all vanities of the earth. He drew copious references from the Bible to support his exposition, referring members to when Abraham wanted to sacrifice his only son, when Moses received the ten commandments, the sermon on the mount and others, all of which occurred on the mount. He further admonished them to be good disciples of Christ and role models within and outside the church by contributing their time, talent and treasures to the well being of the church and the society at large.
The two celebrants, Sir Kenneth Iroegbu and Sir Paschal Ezea with their ladies were called out before the congregation and formally invested as Second Degree Knights by being dressed in their respective regalia by Sir Richard Adewale and Sir Anthony Fakorede for men while Lady Beatrice Obafemi and Helen Orvini effected same for the ladies, on the order of the Grand Knight and the Lady President.
After the ceremony, members and other well wishers were treated to sumptuous dishes at the reception hosted by the celebrants in conjunction with Sir Christopher Adigboluja, Sir Aaron Oche and Sir Micheal Adetayo with their ladies, who were part of the thanksgiving ceremony, as newly admitted members of the Order.
