Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area, in Lagos State, Mr Adeniyi Saliu, says the council would set up an investment agency to boost internally generated revenue.
He said at Eredo on Wednesday that the move was part of efforts to increase the council`s revenue and boost its economy.
“ At the moment, we generate N2m monthly as revenue, but we want to increase the figure to N10 m monthly effective January 2018,” he said.
Saliu said that the area had lots of projects awaiting execution but lamented that lack of funds had stalled the process.,
“It will be a donor agency, where investors and individuals can tap into it to help the council to execute projects.
” The concept is that investors will be welcomed to the council to tap into the investment opportunities,” he said.
The chairman said that the area was blessed with lots of investment opportunities in areas like; agriculture, tourism, sport, creativity and abundant land.
“In that regard, the Council calls on investors to key in the rich business opportunities in our communities.
He said that part of the money generated would be used to develop infrastructure in the council.

He added that some of the youth would be empowered on their educational career.
“I want the council to produce 10 renowned scientists and 10 renowned engineers in the next 10 years.
“I believe that after their training, they will give back to the society that made them, ” he said.
Saliu said that the council would ensure that there was peace and unity among the traditional rulers, youths, and residents in the local council area. (NAN)
