Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, has vowed that criminals will soon meet their Waterloo, especially those operating on the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway: “Already, the command has arrested 30 suspected kidnappers, armed robbers and murderers as well as rescued some victims.”
He spoke at the Inspector General of Police [IGP] Conference in Abuja: “My vision is to configure the security architecture to ensure efficiency and effectiveness, personnel to be professional and respect the fundamental rights of citizens. Our operatives now leverage forensic tools, red-time surveillance, digital tracking and coordinated data analysis to proactively detect, disrupt and dismantle criminal networks operating within and beyond the state.
“These inter-agency cooperation and public support have led to a member of recent successes in tackling crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, sexual violence, vehicle theft and ritual killing.
“Our aim is to update the public on several high-impact investigations, major arrests, successful rescue operations and critical recoveries effected in the past few weeks. These breakthroughs are a testament to the professionalism, dedication and evolving capacity of the command to meet the ever-changing dynamics of crime in our society.
“The command remains resolute in its mission to ensure the protection of life and to maintain law and order. We have intensified operations through a multi-dimensional approach anchored on intelligence-led community policing, collaboration and the strategic deployment of technology.
“Our aim is to assess the operational effectiveness of the units, identify challenges and implement effective solution. The command will imbibe community policing by showing commitment to professionalism. We have improved our relationship with members of the public.
“The command has put in place adequate security arrangements in liaison with other security agencies to protect life and property. Members of the public should be vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest security post.

“We will continue to intensify efforts in combating crime through proactive policing, intelligence gathering and swift response to distress call. I have warned officers to shun corruption and illegal duty.

“We ordered strategic deployment of adequate personnel and intelligence assets to all approved centres of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board [JAMB] Computer-Based Test [CBT] in the state.
“I visited some black spots and redeployed tactical team operatives. to Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, Abeokuta/ Sagamu Expressway and Ijebu Ode/Ore Expressway.
“Police operatives in joint operation with Nigerian Army, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun Corps, Ogun State Community Security Corps and Vigilante Group of Nigeria [VGN], demonstrating a unified and coordinated security response arrested 146 suspects for unlawful assembly, violent protest and actions capable of disrupting public peace , and order. They have been transferred to SCID Abeokuta.
“Officers caught doing illegal duties will face the Police Act. This is strengthened by the Inspector General of Police [IGP] Olatunji Disu. We need the support of Obas, community and students’ leaders as well as stakeholders to give us useful information to flush out hoodlums.
