IGP confab: We’ve denied criminals safe haven in Delta, says CP

Delta State Police Command has arrested 30 suspected kidnappers, armed robbers, cultists and murderers. Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, said at the Inspector General of Police (IGP) conference in Abuja: “We have dealt with the criminals terrorising the state. We are focused on proactive initiatives designed to deny safe havens to criminal elements.

“Police arrested some of the suspect immediately charged them to court. The Area Commander, Ughelli, arrested three suspected kidnappers along Iyede community axis. CP Assignment Team stormed Ekredjebor, Ughelli, arrested a suspect. The team also arrested a suspected armed robber in Warri.

“Operatives of Quick Response Squad raided a building on Okwagbe Street, Igbudu, Warri, and arrested three suspected cult members of Black Axe Confraternity. Operatives on patrol along Abraka-Oghara axis intercepted a 55-year-old suspect   near Western Delta University.

“Eagle Net Special Squad along Asaba-Agbor Expressway, near North West filling station, intercepted a JS bus and recovered a large quantity of illicit substances carefully concealed beneath company machines. Three suspects were arrested from Aguata LG, Anambra State, Kastina-Ala   LG, Benue State and Nbiaya Uruan LG, Akwa Ibom State.

“Three   suspected members of Aye Confraternity admitted involvement in several door-to-door robberies in Warri. Ororokpe Division arrested two suspected members of a criminal syndicate terrorising commuters and residents along Warri-Sapele Road and Adheje community.

“A blue tricycle was intercepted on the Agbarho-Warri Expressway by the operatives of Area Command, Warri. Anti-Crime Patrol Team invaded Texas Hostel, Agbor and recovered   a locally fabricated pistol and three mobile phones.

“Operatives in Ibusa Division raided   a suspected cult gathering at Anioma Garden, Ugboli Quarters, Ibusa. They arrested a suspected member of Supreme Viking Confraternity. Our success reflects the dedication of our officers and men and their commitment to proactive policing, collaboration with sister security agencies and community engagement with useful information.

“I have redeployed tactical team to flashpoints where hoodlums come from neighbouring states to carry out their evil acts. There have 48-hour constant patrol and surveillance to flush out the hoodlums.

“I give kudos to officers, the way they conduct themselves and apply professionalism when carry out their duties. Also, the sister agencies, including the vigilante group and hunter, we are able to fight the criminals.

“We appreciate members of the public for giving us pieces of useful information which assist in tackling the crime and criminality.”
