…Drums support for Tinubu

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and immediate past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has promised his kinsmen that he would not disappoint them in his performance as the FCT minister.
He spoke as a special guest of honour during the 2024 annual cultural day of the apex socio-cultural organisation of Ikwerre ethnic nationality, Ogbako Ikwerre Organisation Worldwide.
Wike expressed gratitude to Ikwerre people for the support he enjoyed while he was governor for eight years.
The FCT minister noted that the Ikwerre people benefited during his administration in areas of appointment and in the upgrade of their traditional chieftaincy stool.
He affirmed that the organisation was instrumental to the 2023 general elections that brought the current administration of President Bola Tinubu to power.
The FCT minister, who spoke through Mr. Chukwuemeka Woke, advised the people of Ikwerre ethnic nationality to be united and politically vigilant.
He also urged other ethnic group in the state to rally round President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, for the development of the state and the country.
He said: “The Minister has asked me to inform his people that he will not disappoint them in the performance of his function as the FCT minister.
“When it was time for serious decision making in the politics of 2023 as it affected the nation and Rivers State, it was a very difficult time, giving the position of his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and it’s presidential candidate, and the then presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
“He decided as an individual to support Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, realising that he cannot achieve this alone. He came back to his people given the numerical strength of Ikwerre ethnic nationality in Rivers State and in the politics of Nigeria, he sought the support of his people and they did not disappoint him and the result of that support is what we are enjoyng today.”
Meanwhile, the socio-cultural organizsation said it would continue to use the Ikwerre culture to unite and foster peace among the people.
President of the organisation, Godspower Onuekwa, commended the leadership of Ikwerre which has used the culture to ensure peace and development in the state and the country.
He said the day was used as a means to sustain, enhance and showcase the love and the cultural value of the Ikwerre people.
