I found opportunity in hair industry – Jeffter Kwaah, CEO Edge Barbershop Trondheim

The Edge Barbershop brand, owned by Jeffter Ohene Kwaah, already has a presence in Oslo and Lilestrom, now he just opened up another outlet in Trondheim which is the biggest and grandest of the outlets.

In a brief interview with Daily Sun, Kwaah shared his success story, reasons behind Edge Barbershop Trondheim, his challenges and lots more.

Excerpts;

 

 

How did you venture into barbering business and own Edge Barbershop Trondheim?

I am a Plumbing Engineer by profession and an ex-footballer but not a barber. I have other business ventures under my wing. So, let’s just say business is my strongest suit and I found an opportunity within the hair industry in Norway and ventured into it with my incredible business Partner Isaac Boadi, after careful and proper planning of-course. (he ́s the barber between us two)

I own a barbershop in Norway because I was born and raised here, making me Norwegian by default and that was the industry I chose.

 

 

 

Do you plan to have an outlet in Africa, Ghana?

Concerning having a branch In Ghana, it’s in the pipelines, looking to fulfill it at an opportune time. And while we’re on the subject of the Barbershop I’d like to shed some light on.

Edge Barbershop Trondheim is the biggest barbershop in the whole of Norway. We featured in our newspaper, showing what our space entails covering a span of 280m2 as our shop. Thriving to be the best and always staying one step ahead, we are also the only barbershop combined with a coffee lounge where we offer premium coffee and delectable accompaniments. Our services are open to all.

 

 

Is it something you had always wanted to do? From childhood?

Since childhood, I had always wanted to be a footballer and I am honored to say I was able to live my dream for a decade however, after sustaining injuries I had to give it up. Retiring from football let me realize other aspects of myself and I realized, I am a numbers guy and where the numbers take me, I follow. If the said sector or targeted audience gives me the numbers I like, why not?

I believe in doing whatever needs to be done to get to where I want to be so wherever I find myself, within whichever sector or industry, I thrive.

 

 

What were some of the challenges faced in Norway?

It is never the easiest thing to start a company, build a brand and establish a business. There is always something or someone to contend with. Just with any other business, one of the challenges is people. Managing people isn’t easy. Having to juggle between barbers and clients and product suppliers would be my daily challenge (small laughter) . People are diverse and keeping them all together would be it.

 

How did you handle them?

By understanding their various needs and wants and us meeting on a level plane ground. Of course we will not always see eye to eye as is with every organization but there is mutual respect for each and what we represent and issues are solved amicably.

 

 

 

Once you see a new client walk into Edge Barbershop Trondheim shop, how do you feel?

When a potential client or a first time customer walks through our doors, my main goal is to ensure that he/she experiences the all new Edge Experience and leaves extremely satisfied with the service Edge Barbershop Trondheim provides. This is what transcends into him/her being a returning client.

 

 

What makes you satisfied as a Barbershop owner?

At the end of the day, all the reviews that come through indicating client satisfaction is why we do what we do.
