2027: Go and work for APC’s success at all levels, Namadi tasks political office holders

From Mohammed Abubakar, Dutse

Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has challenged appointed and elected political office holders to go back to their respective communities to mobilise the electorate to vote massively for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), from the presidency down to the state assembly, in the forthcoming general elections.

The governor, who gave the admonition while inaugurating the 2027 Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Dutse, said the party had no reason to fail, given the level of achievements it had recorded in all spheres of human endeavour, including infrastructure development, health, education and human empowerment.

The council, which has the governor as chairman, has the Deputy Governor, Engr. Aminu Usman; two former governors, Ali Sa’ad Birnin Kudu and Sen. Ibrahim Saminu Turaki; and the state APC Chairman, Ahmad Garba Maikudi, as deputy chairmen.

Other officers include the Deputy Chief of Staff in the Presidency, Sen. Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, as vice chairman for North-East; the Speaker of the State Assembly, Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, and Hon. Farouk Adamu Aliyu as vice chairmen for South-West I and II; and Alhaji Isa Gerawa and Hajiya Rabi Ishaq as vice chairmen for North-West I and II.

Alhaji Lawan Ya’u Roni was appointed Director-General of the campaign council. He played a similar role in the 2023 general elections, which ushered Namadi into office.

The inauguration brings together key party leaders and political stakeholders under a unified campaign structure to coordinate mobilisation and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Namadi ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Namadi said the integration of the presidential and governorship campaign structures was intended to strengthen coordination and give the party a united platform for its 2027 election campaign.

He expressed satisfaction with the turnout at the event, describing it as a demonstration of the APC’s strength and continued presence across the state, and declaring that the gathering had further strengthened his confidence in the party’s readiness to secure victory at all levels in the forthcoming elections.

He called on party leaders and supporters to work together towards the re-election of President Tinubu, his return as governor, and the election of APC candidates to the Senate, the House of Representatives and the Jigawa State House of Assembly.

“By the grace of Allah, we are confident that we will deliver victory for Mr President, the Governor, our Senators, members of the House of Representatives and members of the State House of Assembly,” the governor said.

Namadi also expressed confidence that Jigawa State would meet the expectation of delivering two million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

“Judging by what we have witnessed today, we are confident that we will deliver those votes for Mr President, Insha Allah.”

Also speaking at the event, the two former governors commended Namadi for his sterling leadership qualities and remarkable achievements in delivering people-oriented projects and driving development across the state in less than four years in office.

They expressed confidence that the administration’s achievements would serve as a strong campaign asset and enhance the APC’s chances of victory in the forthcoming elections.

Birnin Kudu, in particular, described Governor Namadi as a man of integrity and accountability, saying that his administration’s record left little room for criticism.

“Today in Jigawa, everybody agrees that Governor Namadi is an honest man. Nobody can question his integrity or accuse him of mismanaging public funds. Anyone who says anything negative about him does so out of envy, hatred or jealousy, because there is nothing to fault him for,” he said.

Similarly, Sen. Turaki described Governor Namadi as a fair, principled and compassionate leader, saying that his administration had made remarkable strides in infrastructure development and education.

He cited the improvement in road infrastructure across the state and the recruitment of thousands of teachers, which he said had never been done since he left office.

“Can anyone point to another state in Nigeria today with excellent road networks comparable to those in Jigawa? Since I left the office, no teachers had been recruited. There were schools that had to close down because of a shortage of teachers. Who, today, has recruited thousands of teachers as Governor Namadi has done?” he asked.

Dangyatin, in a chat with reporters on the sidelines of the event, described the success of the party in the state and in the forthcoming 2027 general elections as very bright.

According to him: “At the state level, I can confirm to you that APC has no strong opponent, so we have no fear of dominating the little ones that we have at the moment.

“As you can see, we have an array of who-is-who in the political landscape of the state, including two former governors, serving and former senators, members of the House of Representatives, state legislators, former ministers and other political office holders. This is unprecedented in the political history of the state. This is what is giving us confidence that we’re the party to beat in the elections.”

Dangyatin, who is the State Coordinator of the City Boy Movement (CBM), one of the organisations propagating the ideals and achievements of the President, said the organisation was now prepared to take the campaigns of Tinubu and Namadi to all nooks and crannies of the state.
