The House of Representatives Committee on hydrological services has promised to address the concerns of states covered by the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Areas Development Commission( HYPADEC).

The chairman of the Committee, Paschal Agbodike, who stated this, at an inaugural meeting of the committee, said the 10th House is committed to making HYPADEC more productive.

Agbodike stated that in line with its mandate, the committee should ensure an effective oversight of hydrological services in the country, including HYPADEC. He explained that for a start, the committee shall undertake on the spots assessment of the project sites of the agency.

Consequently, he charged members of the Committee to be ready for a vigorous oversight of Hydrological Services and HYPPADEC. The lawmaker explained that this is necessary in order to turn around power generation and distribution, so as to boost manufacturing activities across the country.

Agbodike also stressed the need for sunset between the members of the committee and stakeholders to enable the parliament achieve its objective of improving power generation across the country.

According to him, “HYPADEC as we all know, is an agency that is one of the most in this country in teems of power generation. HYPADEC is like NDDC as they are the ones giving us power. It’s an agency we should pay proper attention to. We shall make it more productive.”

The lawmaker, while speaking on issues affecting the HYPADEC states said “this committee will ensure that they are taken care of. Ours is to make sure that every money allocated to them is properly utilised. Our duty is to oversight them and we will so that.”
