With the resumption of academic activities for 2025/2026 session, students in different classes have shared how they spent their long holiday.
Some told told our Correspondents that they travelled to visit family members and those who didn’t gave an insight to what they did during the long holiday.
Nwokocha Amarachi Deborah, a student of Babcock Secondary School, Ogba, Lagos, told Daily Sun that she spent her holiday mostly at home, where she had the opportunity to recharge and refocus. “It was nice to take a break and recharge,” she said.
Nwokocha also revealed that she managed to catch up with friends and families members who live nearby. “I didn’t have any major plans, so I just enjoyed the holiday and focused on self-care,” she added.
She also said that the holiday was a much-needed break from school work, felt refreshed and ready to take on the new academic session. “I’ve been reviewing my notes and planning out my schedule for the new session,” she said.
Another student, Ugorji Chinedu, a student of Christ the Ultimate School, Lagos, explained that he travelled to Abuja to visit relatives. “It was a great experience, and I enjoyed exploring the city,” he noted.
He further stated that his holiday was a mix of relaxation and adventure, and he felts like he made the most of his time. His trip to Abuja was a welcome break from his usual routine.
“I got to spend quality time with my loved ones and experience new things,” he said. He also enjoyed trying new foods, visiting new places, and learning about the city’s history and culture.
Ugorji observed that he was prepared for the new academic session and is excited to dive back into his studies and make progress towards his academic goals.”I’ve been reviewing my notes and setting goals for the 2025/2026 session,” he stated.
Ohen Precious, a JSS3 student at Speedway School, Ojodu Berger,Lagos, said he spent the holiday in his hometown and played with friends and helped his family at home.
The junior pupil explained that he travelled to in his hometown, adding that “its not my first holiday and it was fun and relaxing.
He expressed excitement about going back to school, I am ready for the new session because I revised my books during the holiday.”
Olowato Biloba Adediji Emmanuel, a JSS3 student at Melvin School, Ojodu, Berger, Lagos, opened up about his recent holiday experience in an interview Daily Sun.
Unlike some peers, Emmanuel said “I spent my holiday mostly at home watching TV and playing games on my phone,” he said

He admitted that it was his first long holiday after starting secondary school, and it felt too short.
Emmanuel also admitted he is not thrilled about returning back to school, “I don’t really like going back to school yet, he noted, explaining the routine feels tiring after the freedom. Im not fully prepared for the new session because I didn’t study much I just relaxed, he said, showing a more laid-back approach.
Chidera Emeka, a female student, disclosed that she spent the recent holiday with her aunty in Festac, Lagos. According to her, at first, the break did not go as she had planned and described the early part of her stay as bad.
Emeka added that with time, she found moments of joy and learnt valuable lessons that turned the experience around.
According to her, she initially felt restricted because she could not move around freely or engage in the activities she had planned.
The quietness of her auntys home made her miss the liveliness she was used to, and this made the holiday dull in the beginning.
She acknowledged that things changed when her aunty began involving her in daily routines and family outings and she started to enjoy bonding with her cousins, helping in the kitchen, and even exploring some parts of Festac. These new experiences gradually brightened her mood and gave her a sense of belonging.
Nmesoma Nwachukwu, 11- year-old primary pupil said, her holiday was fun because she went to Port Harcourt to stay her cousins.
Nwachukwu explained that they visited different places and also the cinema to watch a new cartoon. The kid told Daily Sun that her aunty treated her nicely and at some point, I didn’t want to come back home to Lagos.
Asked to compare this holiday to the previous one, she said, this has been her best holiday since she started going for holidays. Because she got to do a lot of creative and fun activities with her cousins
Nwachukwu told our Correspondent that she is well prepared and eager to start the academic session.
Ebube Achi, a primary 5 pupil, described her holiday as calm and enjoyable, noting, my holiday was fine. I spent it with my mom and dad, just like last year, she noted.
Achi told Daily Sun that her holidays are usually peaceful and filled with family moments. She added confidently, I am prepared for the next academic session, expressing eagerness to meet with her teachers and classmates.
For Victor Obasi, also in primary 5, this years holiday was a new and exciting experience. He spent the break with his aunty, it was fun,he said with a bright smile.
This year’s holiday is more fun than last year, while adding that he wished the holiday was extended so he could spend more time with his aunty I wish the holiday was long, he said
