Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested over 40 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and cultists. It also rescued five victims and recovered arms from the criminals’ hideouts.
Commissioner of Police, Mrs Anthonia Uche Anya, spoke recently at the Inspector of Police conference in Abuja: “This period of yuletide, there will be proactive at ensuring peaceful atmosphere for Christmas and New Year celebration.
“The command arrested some suspected hoodlums in their various hideouts. The criminals are relocating from the state. I want to give kudos to our officers for applying professionalism in tackling crime in the state. I have given them support to encourage them to flush out the hoodlums.
“They have done well. The suspects arrested are being charged to court to face the wrath of the law while other suspects are still under investigation.
“The officers are imbibing community policing and working with the public, other sister security agencies including the vigilante group and hunters. We have charged the hoodlums to court. I have deployed officers to all flashpoints on surveillance
“Police arrested 15 suspected armed robbers terrorising Abakaliki. They specialised in robing victims of their valuables. Police Tactical Team arrested suspected kidnappers in Afipo. The suspect was involved in various kidnapping, collecting ransom from the victims relatives.
“The Anti-Cultism Squad arrested some suspected cultist members of Greenland and Eiye confraternities, who were involved armed robbery and cultist rivalry.
“Police operatives arrested another set of suspected armed robbers and murdeers in Ngbo. We raided their hideouts and restored peace to the community.
“We want to appreciate the state government for given us operational vehicle to check mate the hoodlums in their various scene of crime. We want to thank the public for given us useful information to deal on the criminals.
