Olaoluwa Salami, the founder of PulseLabs has shared some insights into how 500 Nigerians were trained and given fresh hope in the field of technology.
Addressing some select newsmen recently, Salami said the training was achieved through the instrumentality of PulseLabs, a digital initiative he established in 2020 after he identified the gaps in the current education system and the market demand for technology professionals.
He said: “We wanted to create a platform to make it easier for anyone to join and learn skills to advance their career. Our community approach plays a crucial role in the success of this initiative. Each member of the community is accountable to someone, and we track each student’s progress through the help of our volunteer programme lead. This has been instrumental to reaching this milestone”.
Speaking on the speed of growth and the level of achievements, he said the demand for skills in the field of technology and other related fields had created room for speedy growth.
According to him, “the demand for tech-related skills worldwide, especially in Nigeria has inspired people to learn tech. This has been a major contributing factor to how we were able to scale so quickly. We met this demand by providing courses and platforms to learn these tech skills at an affordable rate.”
Highlighting some of the programs currently available to improve the tech skills, he mentioned Product Design, Web Development and Software Engineering. He went further to state that new courses focused on data would be introduced. he said the digital initiative is determined to transform technology in the continent, adding that: “Our long-term goal is to train over 2,000 people in tech before 2025.”
He buttressed that, according to a recent report by the World Economic Forum, more than 54% of employees would require upskilling by the end of 2022.
He expressed hope of further providing the platform that will foster technology excellence in Nigeria and beyond.
