Nollywood actress Rechael Okonkwo, popularly known as Nkoli Nwa Nsukka, has provided free healthcare to over 5,000 residents during the eighth edition of her annual Nkoli Mega Carnival in Nsukka, Enugu State.
The medical outreach, organised in partnership with the Franklin Junior Foundation, featured doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals who provided consultations, medications, wheelchairs, walking aids and reading glasses. Patients requiring specialised care were referred to hospitals for further treatment.

Speaking on the initiative, David Ofogba, Director of Programmes at the foundation, said the partnership aimed to make basic healthcare accessible to residents who may struggle to afford it.
The carnival also provided relief materials to 500 vulnerable widows, including food, clothing, and school supplies. Children participated in an educational quiz, with bicycles presented as prizes.
For Okonkwo, the initiative is deeply personal, having lost her father at 13 and experiencing the challenges of growing up without financial resources.
“Your background shouldn’t determine your future. With determination, you can make it,” she said.
The eighth edition marked the return of the carnival after a two-year break, with the event traditionally held during Easter. Rising costs had forced the organisers to suspend it after the 2023 edition before it was revived this year in August.
Okonkwo expressed appreciation to the foundation, sponsors, volunteers, media partners and other supporters for helping bring the carnival back.
She said the initiative remains focused on giving back to her community and encouraging others to use their resources and opportunities to impact lives positively.
