To dream big and achieve great things appear to be the goal for Adaeze Maryprecious Atayobor, famous as Vendajules.
The award-winning make-up expert revealed how that she’s optimistic about taking her make-up brand and beauty game across and beyond the shores of Africa.
The Ghana-based Nigerian professional and celebrity makeup artist and beauty entrepreneur who has numerous awards to her credit including the Ghana Style Awards where she bagged Outstanding Make-up of the year; Ghana Media and Entrepreneurship Awards as Make of the Year with many others.
While the awards and recognitions continue to trickle in, Vendajules who is the founder of Vendajules Slay World stated that she has been in the business of make-up for about eight years and has built a network of friends within and outside Ghana where she’s currently based and it is time to show the rest of Africa that “I understand what it takes to be number one beauty expert in Africa and I am ready to take this trade beyond this current space.”
While she has been privileged to work with some of the most sought-after celebrities from the music and movie industry including Yvonne Nelson, Afia Schwarzenegger, Efya, Gloria Sarfo, Zynell Zuh, Juliet Ibrahim, Selly Galley, Efe Grace, Mercy Aigbe, Ruth Kadiri among others, her dream is to go international where she would grace some of the international fashion gigs in Europe.
Asked if it was difficult running a make-up studio and building a brand, the mother of three who is married to a Nigerian said “if you are starting a business in the beauty industry field, especially as a makeup artist, you must invest in quality products which in this current economy would cost you some coins. However, drugstore products are more affordable than high-end products. Setting up a makeup studio isn’t expensive or difficult for someone who already has the resources to build and set it up.”
Speaking about her early days on the job and how she has managed to stay afloat, she added that “Honestly, I wouldn’t say I started on a smooth path but I am grateful for where I am today moving on. As a Nigerian in Ghana, you are expected to meet up with some criteria before running a business, and we made sure to meet up with them. So far it’s been also amazing meeting with some of the best people in my field.”
