Vice President Kashim Shettima will chair a high-level dialogue on Friday, May 17, 2024, to discuss the progress made during the first year of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The event, as explained by Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), Ibrahim Hadejia, aims to not only showcase the administration’s achievements but also explore ways to build on those gains and leverage international cooperation to further the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The dialogue will feature a keynote address by Vice President Shettima titled “Delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda Through Enhanced International Cooperation: Imperatives, Opportunities and Challenges.” This address will set the stage for discussions among leaders and thinkers from government, international development organizations, and civil society.
The dialogue will assess the administration’s accomplishments over the past year and identify areas for consolidation. It will also provide a comprehensive analysis of the government’s policy priorities and delivery mechanisms, enabling the celebration of successes, learning from challenges, and refining strategies for the future.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on International Cooperation, Dapo Oyewole, highlighted the objectives of the dialogue, which include:
- Articulating and deliberating on policy priorities, delivery mechanisms, successes, and challenges of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
- Identifying key areas where international cooperation can significantly enhance the delivery of the agenda.
- Developing an action plan to leverage development financing and technical collaboration for accelerated impact.
This high-level dialogue is part of the Tinubu administration’s efforts to foster international cooperation in delivering on the promises of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which encompasses economic revitalization, social empowerment, and infrastructural development.
