The Managing Director/CEO, Heirs Life Assurance & Sector Head, Mr. Niyi Onifade, has projected that Heirs Insurance Group would be the leading brand in the industry across Africa in 50 years.

Addressing journalists in Lagos during the five years anniversary of the group, Onifade affirmed that such lofty aspiration is achievable following the resilience and growth trajectory recorded so far.

“Currently we are serving over two million customers directly and indirectly; Heirs Insurance Group’s story is one of determination and consistent growth.

“We are uniquely innovative. We are the first digital experience centre, the first AI-powered multilingual assistant (Prince AI), the first web series on insurance, and the first rewards programme in the industry”

On customer relations and service delivery, he confirmed Heirs has a fully automated claims process, digital onboarding, USSD access and bancassurance partnerships.

“Every innovation is in service to the customer. We have a good sustainability initiative where we built a solar power station at the Ikoyi immigration office. We also have financial literacy initiatives, including the flagship Heirs Insurance Essay Championship as part of our sustainability and community relations. This is so because we see business and social responsibility as inseparable.”

Despite the scorching business environment, he added that Heirs Group remained focused on its goal, earning it multiple recognitions in a short while.

“We earned Financial Times Recognition for Africa’s Top 100 fastest-growing companies (Heirs Life – 7th and Heirs General – 41st). We are recognised as one of the top three digital innovators.

“We became MSME Insurance Company of the Year by Naira Metrics Awards 2024! Most Outstanding Insurance Group by Marketing Edge Brands & Advertising Excellence Awards as well as award on Technology for Development by SERAS (Sustainability, Enterprise, and Responsibility Awards)”

Ahead of the ongoing recapitalisation, he affirmed that the group is ready to meet all requirements, even as it continues to develop young talent in digital-insurance, for instance, Hackathon for AI innovation and more.

In a remark, the Managing Director/CEO, for Heirs General Insurance, Wole Fayemi, assured potential and prospective policyholders that their maximum satisfaction is his top priority.

Fayemi gave this assurance while acknowledging the level of distrust in the insurance sector saying “We are not losing hope. We understand the peculiar challenges in this market. But we are optimistic. To our potential and prospective customers, we can assure you of top notch service delivery. You have nothing to fear. This trust issue is something we are gradually rebuilding. Soon Nigerians will without much persuasion embrace insurance wholeheartedly.”

Meanwhile, the Group has expanded its Rewards & Loyalty Programme to include corporate clients, enabling employers to offer additional lifestyle and wellness benefits to their workforce as part of their employee value proposition.

The expansion follows the successful rollout of its programme to retail customers, which reinforces its commitment to delivering greater value and innovation beyond traditional insurance coverage.
