Erling Haaland has become the most expensive player in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) history after receiving a record £15.5 million price tag as the game unveiled a raft of new features and rule changes for the 2026/27 season.
The Manchester City striker’s valuation headlines the latest FPL updates, while Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes recorded the joint-biggest price rise in the game’s history, climbing £3 million to £12 million. Arsenal defender Gabriel is now valued at £8 million, becoming only the third defender to reach that mark.
Announcing the changes on Wednesday, the Premier League said managers will now enjoy live mini-league updates, allowing global rankings, private league tables, head-to-head contests and FPL Cup ties to refresh in real time while matches are in progress.
The game will also introduce projected bonus points, which will appear after the first 20 minutes of matches and update continuously as the Bonus Points System changes during play.
Another key addition is the Price Change Predictor, a new tool designed to monitor transfer activity and indicate players most likely to rise or fall in value. The Premier League noted that while the predictor serves as a guide, it does not guarantee price movements.
Managers will also benefit from redesigned squad pages displaying fixture difficulty ratings, player ownership and upcoming opponents, while career statistics will allow users to compare their historical performance against the global FPL community.
The Bonus Points System has been adjusted to reduce overlap with defensive contribution points, improving bonus opportunities for goalkeepers, full-backs and attacking players.
The Premier League has also delayed the Gameweek lockdown until 09:00 UK time on the day after the final match, replacing the previous one-hour deadline after the last fixture. The change is intended to give Opta additional time to review match data before final scores are confirmed.
Despite the updates, the game’s core chip system remains unchanged. Managers will again receive two sets each of Wildcard, Free Hit, Triple Captain and Bench Boost chips across the season, while they can continue to roll over up to five free transfers.
However, the additional free transfers introduced last season to help managers cope with the Africa Cup of Nations schedule have been withdrawn because the tournament will not interrupt the 2026/27 campaign.
Other updates include 11 reclassified player positions, the retention of defensive contribution points, and the introduction of Adobe Express Gameweek Recaps, which will provide personalised visual summaries of each manager’s weekly performance.
According to the Premier League, the latest enhancements are aimed at giving Fantasy managers more real-time information and better tools to make informed decisions throughout the season.
