Ghana Black Stars legend, Asamoah Gyan has made a striking claim regarding injured Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen’s injury, stating that it may have been orchestrated by his club.
Osimhen’s injury has become a significant topic of discussion at Galatasaray ahead of the Champions League match.
Osimhen, who started last Saturday’s Group C clash with Rwanda in Uyo, but was forced off 10 minutes before half-time with a lower leg injury having initially tried to play through the issue.
He then missed the match against South Africa in the 2026 World Cup African qualifiers, and his injury was confirmed following an MRI scan.
He is also expected to miss Saturday’s game against Eyüpspor but should be available for the away match against Frankfurt.
The former Kayserispor player suggested that Osimhen’s injury could have been planned to ensure he was fit for the Champions League match.
Gyan was quoted in the news outlet amcnews24, saying, “I know these tricks. Someone told Osimhen, ‘we spent a lot of money on you. The Champions League is coming up, and we don’t want you going to Africa. Just go there, play a little, then fake an injury and act like it’s serious. The next day, you’ll be back in Turkey.’”
Gyan continued, “You’ll see Osimhen running vigorously in the Turkish Super League and Champions League. No matter how many times he gets tackled there, he won’t fall. The doctors are involved too! The euro is more valuable than the naira!”
