Nigerian gospel singer and worship leader, Pastor Nathaniel Bassey, has surpassed one billion views on YouTube, becoming the first African gospel artist reported to have reached the milestone on his official channel.
Figures from YouTube analytics platforms Social Blade and ReachRanking showed that Bassey’s channel, Nathaniel Bassey Main, had recorded approximately 1.014 billion views and 5.24 million subscribers as of Sunday, November 1, 2026.
The achievement marks a major milestone for the gospel singer, whose worship songs and ministrations have attracted millions of viewers on the video-sharing platform.
The achievement comes more than 15 years after the channel was created on March 4, 2011, and follows the growing international popularity of his music and the Hallelujah Challenge, his online prayer and worship programme.
The October 2026 edition of the Hallelujah Challenge, which attracted participants from different parts of the world, contributed to the latest surge in viewership.
The programme’s grand finale, the Hallelujah Festival, was among the channel’s most-watched recent broadcasts, recording more than 4.3 million views, while the opening session attracted over four million views, according to ReachRanking data.
Other sessions from the October edition also generated millions of views, reflecting the growing reach of the online worship gathering.
Launched in June 2017, the Hallelujah Challenge began as a midnight praise and prayer session on Instagram Live before expanding into a global online Christian gathering, with participants joining from different countries through social media platforms.
