Gunmen suspected to be bandits have kidnapped two female students of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ayetoro Campus, Ayetoro in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 9p.m on Sunday, when the suspected bandits stormed Igbole Aibo Quarters of Ayetoro, shooting sporadically.

A resident who pleaded anonymity, told Daily Sun that in the melee that followed the shooting, abducted the two students who were said to be returning home from an outing.

The abducted female students were identified as Adeyemo Oluwaseun Precious (300 Level Forestry and Wildlife Management) and Oyefule Oluwatosin Abisola (300 Level, Agricultural Economics).

It was further gathered that the suspected bandits had actually targeted a female GSM call vouchers dealer living in the area.

But following their failure to break through the gate to her house, they resorted to abducting the two female varsity students.

“Being unable to gain access, they started shooting sporadically to create fear, and it was at this point Seun and Tosin were returning home, which is the same house the call cards dealer lives near Igbole, Aibo Community Primary School, Aibo Quarter, Ayetoro, Ogun State”, the resident further disclosed.

When contacted, the Deputy Registrar, Corporate Affairs Unit, of the institution, Niyi Oduwole, confirmed the incident and described the development as unfortunate.

Oduwole, said that the university management was on top of the situation in ensuring the safe return of the abductees.

“The incident is most unfortunate. The university is beefing up security situation around all our campuses and hostels.

“We sympathise with the parents of the victims and we want to assure them that their wards are rescued unhurt. We are on top of the situation”. Oyewole stated.

When also contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Ogun State police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said he was in a briefing and promised to get back to our reporter.

But as at the time of filing this report, the PPRO was yet to get back as promised.
