This is not the best of time for unknown gunmen who have been terrorising various parts of Anambra State as the offensive attacks from the Anambra Security Outfit; Agunechemba, has forced many of them to flee their camps, abandoning their loots and property.

The security squad on Wednesday,  smashed an Armoury suspected to belong to a kidnap gang operating within the Enugu- Agidi axis in Njikoka Local Government Area (LGA)of the state.

Similarly, gunmen operating in Umunze community in Orumba South LGA  of the state, have also fled their camps following the arrest of the kidnap kingpins in the area last week.

Security operatives confirmed that the kingpin that was arrested was alleged to have been part of the gang that kidnapped a woman and his son and later killed them after paying ransom of about N10 million.

The security operatives also arrested one of the gang leaders of the gunmen at Enugu Agidi, who specialized in kidnapping and armed robbery in the area.

“The Agunechemba Security Squad has busted Kidnappers hideout at Enugu – Agidi in Njikoka local government area of Anambra state.

“One of it’s gang leaders, Chukwudi Tansi, was also arrested at the hideout while other members are still at large.  items recovered from the gang’s armoury, are: two AK47 Rifles, two pump action guns , four locally made pistols , three packets of cartridges. Others included: four empty magazines of AK47 Rifles, three cutlasses, 47 Rifles, one Baofeng Radio, one motorcycle and some charms”

It was further gathered that the raiding of the hideout was as a result of vital information at the disposal of the security squad by members of the public in the area.

The Squad further noted that they were deep in a sustained manhunt for the fleeing suspected gunmen, promising that in no distant time they would be apprehended.
