The South East Renewed Hope Agenda (SERHA) has reminded students in the region of President Bola Tinubu’s promise to ease their financial burdens through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which covers school fees for eligible students.

Speaking during the launch of SERHA’s 50,000 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) scholarship programme in Owerri, Imo State, the South East Coordinator of the group, Belusochukwu Enwere, said the initiative aligns with Tinubu’s vision of expanding access to education and reducing poverty.

“President Tinubu has made a commitment to Nigerian students that their school fees will be addressed through NELFUND. This is a promise of hope and relief for many families struggling to fund education,” Enwerem stated.

He explained that SERHA’s scholarship scheme, which targets 50,000 students across the South East, complements the federal government’s effort to make education more accessible. He said the combined impact of NELFUND and SERHA’s intervention will significantly reduce the number of youths unable to pursue tertiary education due to financial constraints.

Enwere called on students to take advantage of both opportunities, urging them to remain focused on their academic pursuits and to see education as a tool for national development.

The event attracted students, parents, educators, and community leaders, who expressed optimism that the twin initiatives would ease the burden of school fees and create a brighter future for young Nigerians. Ten thousand students had their JAMB form paid for them at the occasion.
