A coalition of pro democracy groups under the auspices of Youth Awake Now (YAN) has condemned the attack on Labour Party (LP) members in Lagos State over the weekend.
YAN leadership made condemnation at a press conference held in Lagos on Monday, to unveil their plan to tackle political violence during the forthcoming polls.
Addressing the press, the coalition leader, Eric Oluwole,said one of the objective of the group is to organise masses based plan to mobilise Nigerians against violence before, during and after the election.
Oluwole said it is high time for the Nigerian youths to speak with one voice irrespective of their socio economic,ethnic ,religious or political background.
The coalition said the youths need to be alive to their responsibility, by thoroughly engaging the manifesto of each of the presidential candidates for proper scrutiny to enable them to be well informed, and use the information gathered to influence who they will vote for.
According to Oluwole, the youths constitute the largest number of Nigerian electorate, and they have the right to cast their vote for candidate of their choice.
“There is the need now to thoroughly engage the manifesto of the presidential candidates for proper scrutiny to enable, the well informed youths, who constituted the largest number of Nigeria electorates to know who to cast their vote for,” he said.
