Akwa State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has commended the promotion of Mrs. Inyang Essien Anietum to the position of Deputy Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), describing it as a big milestone for all people from the state, being the first indigene to be appointed to the exalted position in the 60 years of the service.

The governor who led in the encomiums poured on the outstanding senior Immigration officer, in a congratulatory message by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ekerete Udoh, described her elevation as a product of hard work, discipline and diligence in the course of service to her fatherland. He also lauded the can-do Akwa Ibom spirit she has been identified with.
Also, the Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on National Planning and Economic Development, representing Abak, Etim Ekpo and Ika Federal Constituency, Hon. Clement Jimbo, who witnessed the decoration of the DCG with her new rank in Abuja last Wednesday, felicitated with Anietum on her meritorious elevation and prayed God to endow her with wisdom to execute the new responsibility placed on her.
As the DCG, Anietum oversees the Visa and Residency Directorate of Nigeria Immigration Service. By this, she is in charge of all operations regarding Visa issuance to non-Nigerians desiring to enter into the country and monitoring of their stay and residency in Nigeria through the issuance Residence Card known as CERPAC.
CERPAC production centres in all the state commands of the service are under her control.
